What Is Permanent LED Lighting?
Permanent LED lighting is an outdoor lighting system that’s installed once and stays on your home year-round. A slim aluminum track runs along your roofline under the eave, and individually controllable LED lights sit inside it about every 12 inches. Everything connects to a weatherproof control box near an exterior outlet, and you run it all from an app on your phone.
Think of it as Christmas lights that never come down, except they also do warm white for everyday curb appeal, orange for Halloween, and any color you pick for every other occasion.
What’s in the system
- Aluminum track: 6063-T6 architectural aluminum, powder-coated in matte black, white, oyster white or brown to match your trim.
- RGBW LED lights: red, green and blue diodes for any color, plus a dedicated warm-white diode for a true 2800K white.
- Pre-built peak pieces: factory-made apex sections matched to your roof pitch, so every gable is perfectly centered.
- Control box: a UL-certified 600W power supply, multi-layer surge protection and a four-zone controller in one enclosure.
- The app: free, over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, with scenes, schedules and timers.

How Permanent Lights Are Installed
Installation is clean, and nothing goes through your roof. Here’s how a typical install goes:
- We plan the layout: where each zone starts and ends, where the peaks are, and where the control box and power feeds go.
- The track goes up, fastened to the soffit or fascia into solid backing, with fasteners matched to the material.
- Peak pieces go first, centered on each gable, and the rest of the roofline works outward from them so both sides mirror each other.
- The lights plug together with factory-sealed connectors. No cutting, no splicing and nothing to seal by hand on your roof.
- Every zone is tested at full brightness, then we set up the app on your phone and save your first scenes.
Most homes take about a day. Larger homes with long rooflines or several peaks can take a second day.
Why Go Permanent?
- No more ladders. Hanging lights means climbing in cold, wet November weather. Permanent lights are installed once, by a crew that does it for a living.
- Every holiday, not just Christmas. Halloween, the Fourth of July, Valentine’s Day and game days all run from the same lights.
- Everyday curb appeal. A soft warm white on a schedule makes the house look finished every evening.
- Nothing to store or fix. No bins of tangled strands, no dead bulbs, no clips cracking your gutters.
- Barely visible in daylight. The color-matched track reads as part of your trim.
What Does Permanent Lighting Cost?
Every home is priced on its own. The price depends mostly on how many feet of roofline you want lit, how many peaks and stories the house has, and how many zones you want to control separately. We measure, plan the layout with you and put the price in writing, free.
A lot of homeowners start with the street-facing side of the house and add the rest later. The system extends with add-on runs, so nothing gets replaced. Call or text (517) 260-9893 or request a quote online.
Warranty
The LED strands, controller and power supply are covered by a 5-year manufacturer warranty against defects. Because the strands plug together in short sections, a problem section can be swapped without rewiring the whole run.

Questions
Permanent LED Lighting FAQ
How much do permanent lights cost?
Every home is priced on its own. The price depends on how many feet of roofline you want lit, how many peaks and stories the house has, and how many zones you want to control separately. We measure, plan the layout with you and give you a written quote, free. A lot of homeowners compare it with paying to have Christmas lights hung and taken down every year: permanent lights are a one-time install that works every night, for every holiday.
Can you see permanent lights during the day?
Barely. The lights sit inside a slim aluminum track mounted under the eave, and the track is powder-coated to match your trim in matte black, white, oyster white or brown. From the street, most people don’t notice it until the lights come on.
Do you drill into my roof or shingles?
No. The track fastens to the soffit (the underside of the eave) or the fascia board, with fasteners matched to the material and set into solid backing. Nothing goes through your shingles or roof panels, so your roof and its warranty are left alone.
How do I control the lights?
From a free app on your phone. The controller connects over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, so you can change colors, pick a scene, or set schedules and timers. It has four independent zones, so the front of the house, the sides and the second story can each do something different.
What colors and effects can they do?
Any color you want, plus a true warm white. Each light is RGBW: it has a dedicated warm-white LED alongside red, green and blue, so your everyday white looks like a real 2800K warm light instead of a tinted mix. Use the app’s scene presets for holidays and game days, or set your own colors and animations.
How far apart are the lights?
About 12 inches apart along the track. From the street that reads as a clean, even line of light that follows your roofline, peaks included.
How do they get power, and will my electric bill go up much?
The control box plugs into an exterior outlet, and everything from the box to the lights runs on low-voltage 24V DC. LEDs use very little electricity, so running them every evening adds little to a typical bill. If your home needs a new exterior outlet, that work is done by a licensed electrician.
What’s the warranty?
Your lights are backed by a 5-year manufacturer warranty covering the LED strands, controller and power supply against defects. Normal weather wear isn’t a defect, so it isn’t covered.
What if a light stops working?
The light strands plug together in short sections with factory-sealed connectors, so a problem section can be swapped without rewiring the whole run. Defective parts are covered by the 5-year manufacturer warranty. Give us a call and we’ll take a look.
